About Me

About Us

Hi, my name is Lani. In my full-time job, I work with curriculum for high school history and government courses. I'm also getting my Master's degree in Legal Studies, focusing on Intellectual Property and Copyrights. (If you ever want to get into a conversation about copyright infringement in cloth diapering, I bet I could talk your ear off. I won't bore you with that stuff here though.)

I created this company to show my passion for cloth diapering. My first son, Everett, was born right at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. I started his cloth diaper journey when he was a month old, because I was disappointed in the lack of dinosaur disposables. Immediately, his diaper rash cleared up. And because I was no longer touching the diapers too, the rashes I get from sensitive dermatitis also cleared up. Win-win! This soon opened up a rabbit-hole of a journey through the cloth diapering world, learning, sharing, and soon designing my own.

There are so many great things about cloth diapering, but I didn't see enough companies explaining how it can be used as a form of self-expression. I began, because I wanted my son to express my love for dinosaurs as a fashion statement. I've learned since that cloth diapers can tell a story. They can imbue characteristics of us and our babies that we can't always express with words. I encourage you all to think about how you can use cloth diapering to communicate a little bit about you every day.

Values

As a new company, I have a lot of visions and goals for where Rainbowsaurus Co is going and what it could be. These values guide how I conduct business and how I make future decisions.

Support and Empowerment

I hope to support and empower mothers, women, and small businesses.

Mothers should feel emboldened to make the best decisions for their children.

Women should feel confident to reach for their dreams.

Small businesses need all of our help to survive.

Sustainability

Cloth diapering itself saves countless disposable waste from being made, but it is still a wasteful process. We could do better.

I have goals to work with more eco-friendly materials such as fabrics made from recycled bottles.

I want to look into other ways to support sustainability such as encouraging diapers to be donated to other families after your child no longer has need for them, or setting up a local diaper program.

I also want to find ways to fight the “buy a diaper just for the new print” mentality. Don't get me wrong, prints are great! And the reason why I started cloth diapering in the first place. But if buying a new one means you are no longer using an older one, well then let's work together to find a use for that old one.

Anti-racism

We do not support racism of any type, and will do our best to celebrate the diversity of human experiences.

If I find any of my practices help perpetuate systemic racism, I will adjust and look for new solutions.

Respect and Kindness

I want to cultivate an environment where people are open to speak their unique perspectives, and where people who may disagree can do so in a civil manner.

I value kindness over profit. If I lose your business because I find your values don't align with mine, then I understand. At the same time, I hope to find ways to reward kindness.
